Ouch… That means trouble ahead… Indeed, if you’re a fish with more than on set of fins, you’re not a traditional fish, this means you can’t be locked up in one single box. What should you do then? forget that you can swim in many different ways, and use only one… split your life in several boxes, connecting one set of fins with only one community… using most of your brain energy to keep your life segregated rather than embracing all aspects of it… or decide to play with it, knowing that you are more than the sum of the perspectives of YOUR self you can identify. I actually wrote a full chapter on this, within my book Swim Like a Fish: An Easy Guide to Developing Self-Leadership, and yes you want to embrace all aspects of YOUR self. Even though the world around you may see the boxes as different, you know they are complementary. The coach and business author Florence Dambricourt would not exist if FlorenceD the fiction writer, the cartoonist and the photographer was not here to observe the world around her in a certain light; and the fiction writer FlorenceD would not have written her first collection of short stories The House in Wicklow if the coach Florence Dambricourt would not have given her the tool to keep her focus.
For my birthday today I’m delighted to share with you The House in Wicklow, a collection of seven short stories taking place in Ireland. Enjoy the read, and enjoy connecting with every aspect of YOUR self.
To open a box, you first need to know it’s actually a box, and then you can shake it open, as often as you want. But you’re right, it’s not a box, it’s rather an infinite set of Russian doll. And so what? Is that a good enough excuse to stop opening them? What about an amazing reason to play the detective card, always impatient and on the move to spot out the edge of the next border…
Female, male, undefined? Black, white, of color, European, Christian, atheist? with education, without one? with a degree, without one? French, English, Slang, Spanish, German, Korean, Russian speakers? Feminine, masculine? Below 59, below 20, generation X, generation Y, generation Alpha? Yes, there are categories, all of them are categories and that’ s okay. To open a box, you first need to know it’s actually a box, and then you can shake it open, as often as you want.
Two thirds through the book, and the transformation is happening. This is not with every book, but the ones which manage to wrap an iron hand around my mind. In an imperceptible shift I start thinking, acting or even talking like some of the characters. I won’t be picky, I may swap from one to another without warning, the mind or the emotions decide. And maybe it’s only happening in my head, a parallel story being written, or an amazing reflection I can study like a hawk. What if a book was like a coaching client, giving us this fascinating mirroring effect and opportunity to learn and explore?
Einstein is said… to have never said ““Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” There are fun facts here. In this world we are all fishes swimming in various types of aquarium. And fishes that we are we all want to climb, not only trees, but hills and mountains. We also want to travel the world, explores its many corners. And whatever we are given to start with, we want to know we can learn what we need to make it happen. What do you do when you’re a fish and you want to climb a hill? You don’t just wait for genius to strike like thunder, you go and identify what you need for the task at hand and you start learning. And developing this Hill Climbing Fishy Spirits is just about developing Self-Leadership.
The fish is on the road with very exciting projects coming soon. A first one this June 14th, then this July 2nd, then sometimes August and September and October and November and December and… you get it very exciting times. Spoiler Alert… A lot is about SELF-LEADERSHIP and you… yes, giving you the tool to developing self-leadership, this must-have competency you need to maintain strong mental stability in today’s world. But that’s not all, they are mysterious things, like… fiction, a few books, some new programs… Remember this June 14th.
I loose my eyes and soul on the road, over hills and suns knowing it will be easier to find my way at night. I am surfing, on a road, on a wave but I know, all roads have a beginning and an end; all waves a crest and a bottom. Are we all thieves? Thieves of brief moment of either sadness or amazing happiness, and everything in the middle… Thieves looking for golden moments…
Hum… so far so good… no questions… a few comments easily forgotten… a bit more evading and vague words –actually for another 19 days- and I will have nailed it! The “New Year Resolutions escape”! Better than an escape game, a damn real life situation and a real life saving one! Nearly there!!!
I can read the story already, a romance novel, but better since in real world. A flashback to the first encounter, the first electricity between body and mind, and the infatuation as the words play along the story drawing circles and heart in my head. Such a narrow escape -pfff- but still a damn good story in my head!
14th century, “to compare” lands onto the English dictionary, flying straight from the Latin universe –one of these parallel universes still in existence. 21th century, in another universe –the one of self-development- “to compare” spreads like mushrooms. Now, when collecting it, make sure to pick the eatable one, the compare which drives you to new horizons rather than the red and dotted one… that one may drive you to black holes and craziness.
